The Thursday Update

(Not that there's been a "Thursday Update" before, but today there is and here it is, in all its glory.)

Last Saturday marked the official launch of Amber Himes Massage, LLC at Abbinito. It was a great day of meeting new clients and looking forward to the exciting challenges that lay ahead. It also marked the launch of Sleepyhead City Web Works LLC, my new web design, development, and consulting company. The website is coming very soon. It was a great weekend to launch two new companies and an exciting new adventure for me.

I am thoroughly enjoying spending time in Southern Oregon. Last Sunday we went white water rafting. I had never surfed rapids before. I highly recommend it. :) Pictures forthcoming.

I'm also nearing my last day at NWREL (officially July 2, unofficially tomorrow). July 2, 2007 marks my 6 year anniversary. But I was a temp before that, coming here in the Spring of 1999. It's been a long run. But being an entrepreneur suits me, I think. I'm glad I've finally found my niche in the world.

In other news, I've been to Body Worlds 3 ("The Anatomical Exhibition of Real Human Bodies") at OMSI twice now. It is fantasmic, as we Disneyland Annual Passers used to like to say. I felt like a kid in a candy store. It was an anatomical wonderland and just as much an art exhibit as anything you'd see at a traditional art or sculpture museum. Just amazing.

Ashland this weekend

I'll be heading down to Ashland this evening. I hope the weather is better down south than it is here in Portland today (warm but wet).

Tomorrow I'll be spending the day at Abbinito greasing the wheels of the word-of-mouth machine. Basically this means that the staff at Abbinito and StreetRents and hopefully some spa pedicure clients as well will be getting free massages tomorrow. Then they can tell all their friends and family members to come book a massage with me. Then hopefully next weekend, I'll have some paying clients.

Oh and the big news this week is...I resigned from my web developer position at NWREL in order to focus on my getting my practice off the ground. My last day there is July 2. Time to turn to the next chapter!

Well my friends, the time has finally come! The stage is set, the audience seated, the lights are dimmed, and the curtains are about to be drawn...Amber Himes, LMT #14056 now has her own business serving Ashland and Portland, Oregon: Amber Himes Massage, LLC!

My website is amberhimesmassage.com which has more about me and my practice, where I'll be, and what services I'll be offering.

I will be seeing clients in Portland out of my home during the week and I will be down in Ashland at Abbinito on the weekends until I'm completely done with school. (I still have one more elective to take this summer.)

Dad and Zoie's birthdays are in the same week (June 4 and 7) and so we had a little party last Monday. It was lots of fun and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. There's plenty of chocolate-face-smearing action, so go check out the photos!
